James Storey joined WC’s faculty in 2012. He currently teaches 7th-grade math. He also serves as the Assistant Athletic Director and coaches 7th-grade basketball and 7th-8th grade track.

How would you describe your teaching style? “I like to keep my classes active, high energy, and engaging. I love math and I want my students to also develop a love for it, as well as provide them with the strong math structure they need in order to be successful in high school math.”

What is the most rewarding aspect of your role? “I love it when a student comes to show me a high grade they’re proud to have earned as the result of hard work paying off.”

What is the most challenging aspect of your role? “I always feel that time is my greatest challenge. There is a lot of material I want to teach, so finding the best pace to meet my students’ needs and accomplish my goals for the class is important.”

How do you incorporate faith and learning? “I enjoying praying with and for my students in each class and looking to scripture as the guide for our lives. I emphasize that none of us is perfect–we are always becoming better students and better people. I focus on the importance of developing godly character, as well as working hard as a student to honor the LORD.”
