Karen Lawrence has been serving WC for over 11 years and is part of the nurse’s team covering two campuses. We are thankful for Karen’s diligent and loving work across our school.
What is your role at WC?
I started as the Kindergarten/Middle school nurse, and as the campuses have changed, my role has too. I now work at both the Lower School and the Upper School as part of the nursing staff.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your role?
The most rewarding part of my job is coming alongside families and students and supporting them in their mental and physical needs at school. I feel so blessed to support a student with their playground scrape, headache, anxiety, or other various issues that arise, helping them get through their day more comfortably. I think students can have greater success at school when those needs are met.
What is your favorite verse, and why?
Romans 10: 9-13
My favorite verses change during different seasons of life. Currently, I am encouraged by Philippians 4:4-7…”Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” These days can bring a lot of anxiety about things that are out of my control. It’s a good reminder for me to stop! To pray… leaving it with the Lord. And to be thankful!
