Welcome, Liz Prentis!
We are excited to announce that Liz Prentis will lead our Girls Volleyball teams in the Fall. Prentis, who served as JV coach last year, will step into the Varsity Head Coach role next season.
After playing four years of volleyball at the collegiate level, Liz found a new way to stay involved in the sport through coaching. Liz coached freshmen and JV teams for two years at Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy in Akron before joining the Worthington Christian Volleyball staff as the JV coach for the 2024 season.
Liz has played volleyball for over ten years, as well as lacrosse and track. While Prentis is passionate about volleyball, she is even more excited and honored to serve as a leader in the lives of female athletes at WC. Liz’s experience as an athlete has significantly shaped and impacted her faith journey. As a coach, she strives to foster a similar experience for young athletes by emphasizing the importance of community and spiritual development.
As a highly competitive and driven individual, Prentis desires to cultivate a program culture where athletes work hard, compete with integrity, and glorify God in all circumstances. Her goal is to develop a competitive program set apart because each team member embodies the love of Christ toward opponents and one another. Liz aims to set an example for her team as she leads athletes to pursue excellence in the name of Christ both on and off the court. Liz currently resides in Columbus and is a supervising case manager at Gracehaven.
Prentis will take over the role from Lynn Hartings, who served as head coach for the past three seasons. “All of us at Worthington Christian want to thank Coach Hartings for the incredible impact that she has had on the Worthington Christian Volleyball program,” said Athletic Director Tony Earp. “While continuing to build the program, Coach Hartings poured her love for the sport and the Lord into each student-athlete and coach.”
“During Coach Hartings’ final season as the Warriors Head Coach, the team finished with a record of 14-10. More than doubling their victories from the year before. Coach Hartings believed in and fostered a F.A.M.I.L.Y. (Forget About Me, I Love You) culture among the team that will continue to grow and spread throughout WC. Coach Hartings will continue to support volleyball and all of the Worthington Christian athletic programs through her position in the WC Athletic Department.”
When speaking of incoming Coach Prentis, Earp said, “Coach Liz Prentis made an immediate impact last season as the Head Coach of the JV team. It was easy to see the growth in the athletes both on and off the court. Her leadership and emphasis on focus and effort were evident in all her student-athletes’ lives. Liz has a strong focus on discipling each student-athlete and helping them grow closer in their relationship with Christ through the lessons of sport. We are blessed to have Coach Prentis on board to continue to grow and develop the volleyball program at Worthington Christian and as part of our WC family.”
Please join us in welcoming Coach Prentis as our new Varsity Head Coach!
