Make a lasting impact by redirecting your Ohio tax dollars to scholarships.
As the holiday season approaches, it’s the perfect time to start planning for your 2024 taxes and make a difference in the lives of Worthington Christian School students. By contributing to the Ohio Christian Education Network’s Scholarship Granting Organization (SGO), you can support WC students while reducing your Ohio tax liability—without costing you anything.
This tax-saving opportunity allows you to redirect the dollars you’d already pay to the State of Ohio to student scholarships at WC. It’s a simple way to provide financial assistance and make a lasting impact on the lives of students pursuing a Christ-centered education.
How Does It Work?
You can contribute up to $750 as an individual or $1,500 as a couple. Your contribution amount is then applied as a dollar-for-dollar tax credit on your Ohio tax return. If your tax liability equals or exceeds your contribution, you’ll receive the full benefit of this credit.
Example:
Let’s say your Ohio tax liability for 2024 is $2,000, but only $1,700 was withheld from your paychecks. Normally, you’d owe $300 when you file your taxes. Instead, by contributing $1,500 to the SGO and designating it for Worthington Christian School, you reduce your Ohio tax liability by that amount—turning what would have been a $300 payment into a $1,200 refund!
Even if you’re expecting a refund, the amount will increase by the amount of your SGO contribution. It’s a win-win!
Why Act Now?
By planning ahead and making your contribution now, you can avoid the last-minute rush of year-end tax planning and focus on what matters most during the holiday season. Your early contribution ensures that WC students continue to benefit from the financial aid provided through the SGO, and you lock in your tax savings for 2024.
