The Warrior Athlete of the Month (WAM) recognizes students who exemplify one of the four core pillars of a Warrior Athlete: Focus, Perseverance, Connection, and Leadership. These qualities reflect not only strong athletic performance, but also a character that strengthens our school community. We are incredibly proud of these student-athletes for their dedication, effort, and desire to honor Christ both in competition and throughout the school day.

Thank you to the coaches who submitted nominations. Nominations are open year-round for all middle school and high school athletes, regardless of whether they are in-season or out of season. Coaches can nominate a student-athlete HERE.

Congratulations to last month’s honorees!

FOCUS: Arabella Hartings

Flag Football | Sophomore
Nominated by Coach Elifritz

“Arabella has been dedicated to Flag Football since the very first workout. She learns and soaks in the coaching each time she plays and works hard on her own to get better at the skills she needs. Arabella even decided to forego a family vacation to make sure she didn’t miss a single practice! Arabella’s focus and dedication to her sport and her teammates have made a great impact on her role in our program. Her level of focus and her work ethic are going to take her places!”

PERSEVERE: Cruz Crum

Basketball | Sophomore
Nominated by Coach Ferrier

Cruz has missed the past two seasons due to injuries. His heart for God and perseverance through seeing healing and overcoming his injuries have allowed him to come back and be a significant contributor to the JV Boys Basketball Team. Cruz has been an elite rebounder and scorer for our team this past season. I am so proud of his trust, growth, and perseverance in the Lord.

CONNECT: Sam Kuch

Track & Field | Junior
Nominated by Coache Mousa

Sam has such a great attitude.  He is always joyful, always working hard and always supporting his teammates in workouts and at meets. He is a young man that takes the time to talk and listen to people. He is one of the most coachable athletes on our team and is willing to always do what is best for the team. For the past two years as a freshman and sophomore, Sam has been a key alternate on our boys sprint relay teams. Not always one of the top four in the spotlight, but a key individual who not only understood, but embraced his role. Sam was always ready to go at a moment’s notice and ended up running a leg at both of our past two district meets in the sprint relay semifinals and finals. Now, as a junior, he has embraced a leadership role on our team. At practices Sam is one of the young men that other younger runners can model themselves after when working out, preparing, and competing. Another example of Sam’s giving attitude towards others is the fact that he chose to participate, this past summer in as missions trip to Panama with a ministry called Filter of Hope. He recently shared about this trip at a WC Elementary School Chapel again demonstrating Sam’s desire to inspire others through his attitude and his actions.

LEAD: Isabel Rogers

Basketball | Senior
Nominated by Coach Davis

Izzy embodies the essence of Luke 12:48; as a student-athlete gifted with immense talent and a big heart, she embraced the principle “to whom much is given, much will be required. She is a grounded, mentally tough competitor who leads not through status, but through a tireless commitment to her teammates. Izzy has a direct, honest approach to leadership. Whether she is the first to arrive at practice or the one anchoring the team during high-pressure moments, her hardworking nature and selfless spirit define what it means to be a true servant leader. Watching Izzy’s growth over the past four years has been a privilege. She cultivated ‘togetherness’ through her tireless work ethic and selfless play. Despite the pressure of being our sole senior, she remained grounded in humility, always placing her teammates’ success above her own. Whether she’s playing through injury or creating opportunities for others on the court, Izzy leads by example. It is often said that leadership is measured by followers; this team followed Izzy all the way to a District Final.
