An experienced coach and educator brings expertise, leadership, and a passion for discipleship to Warrior Football.
Following a competitive search that drew more than 30 applicants and multiple rounds of interviews with top candidates, a committee of parents, staff, and administrators selected Coach Andy Johnson for his leadership and organizational strengths, more than 18 years of coaching experience, and a clear, mission-aligned vision for the future of Worthington Christian Football. Coach Johnson takes over for interim coach Chris Royal.
Twelve years of Coach Johnson’s experience have been at the high school level, including eight years as an offensive coordinator at Beavercreek High School and Dublin Jerome High School, where he helped lead record-breaking offenses, develop all-state players, and prepare many student-athletes to compete at the collegiate level.
Beyond his performance on the field, Coach Johnson is recognized for fostering strong relationships with his athletes and utilizing football as a platform to develop young men of character and faith.
“I am thrilled to join the Worthington Christian community,” said Coach Johnson. “This is an incredible opportunity to blend my experience in football with my heart and passion for discipling and developing people. I’m excited to start connecting with staff, parents, and, most of all, the kids, to build a program that maximizes the development of each player and reflects the school’s values of grace, truth, and servant leadership. Let’s go, Warriors!”
Coach Johnson is a licensed teacher in Dublin City Schools, where he teaches middle school math, and he recently earned his master’s degree in counseling from the University of Dayton. In addition to his work in education and athletics, he has served as a leader in Young Life and Fellowship of Christian Athletes, further reflecting his commitment to mentoring students both academically and spiritually.
Athletic Director Tony Earp expressed strong confidence in Coach Johnson’s ability to lead the program with excellence and purpose. “We are incredibly blessed to have Coach Johnson to lead our football program and build it into a program that develops great young men, discipling them and mentoring them to be successful both on and off the football field,” said Earp. “We were all very impressed with his experience and passion for teaching and supporting students, and with his clear vision for the future of Warrior football and its impact on our community. He has dedicated his professional life to helping students grow closer to Christ while fostering their learning and development in the classroom and on the field.”
Coach Johnson is eager to begin meeting with players, families, and current coaches as preparations begin for the upcoming season and the continued growth of a strong, sustainable Warrior football program.
