Luke Fields (WC’ 97) is no stranger to WC nor to soccer having played since he was five years old. Luke was a member of the WC boys soccer teams and also ran track. He coached his first WC soccer team in 2000. Over the last ten years, he has coached various teams. Prior to coaching at the high school level, Luke coached the WC girl’s middle school soccer team for two years.

How did you get into coaching?
“Playing high school soccer are some of my best memories as a teen. It is my desire for my daughters and their friends to have a similar experience. Girl’s soccer inspires and draws me to focus on being positive and more encouraging each day. “

What is the most rewarding thing for you about coaching?
“Seeing these ladies have success and improve is always fun. But my favorite moments are when they push themselves to truly compete as a team and also when they get super excited cheering for each other.”

How do you incorporate faith into your coaching?
“Col 3:23- Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men. A player has to decide they play for God alone, the one who created them just the way they are. This gives freedom. They have to realize that they don’t play for their coach, parents, scouts, or even their teammates. Sole focus on this truth will help guide these ladies beyond soccer for the rest of their lives. ”
