WC Strengthens Commitment to Student and Staff Safety with New Leadership

Worthington Christian School is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Nick Way as the school’s first full-time Director of Safety and Security. This important role reflects WC’s ongoing commitment to providing students, staff, and families a safe and secure Christ-centered educational environment.

Mr. Way brings over 15 years of experience developing and leading safety and emergency response programs across complex environments. Most recently, he served as Manager of Safety and Security at the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium, where he directed safety operations across multiple campuses and led initiatives focused on prevention, preparedness, and risk reduction.

Mr. Way was an integral member of the WC Safety Review Task Force, a group appointed by Head of School Dr. Mike Hayes in April 2024 to assess and improve safety protocols across both campuses. Mr. Way’s expertise, contributions, and heart for the WC community quickly became evident.

“Nick brings an impressive background in safety and risk management, but even more importantly, he brings a deep personal investment in the WC mission,” said Dr. Mike Hayes. “As a parent, task force member, and now director, Nick is uniquely positioned to lead our efforts in building a culture of proactive safety rooted in care and excellence.”

In his new role, which begins on June 2, Mr. Way will oversee campus safety operations, emergency preparedness, training, and compliance.

Nick and his wife, Brett, are the parents of two children who are rising fourth graders at WC, and the family attends Rock City Church.

Please join us in welcoming Nick Way to this vital new role in the life of Worthington Christian School.
