With 89% of Students on State Scholarships, WC Families Benefit from Expanding School Choice

As election season approaches, education, and particularly school choice, is once again at the center of public discussion in Ohio. The EdChoice Scholarship Program continues to grow, giving families across the state the ability to choose the learning environment that best meets their child’s needs. With that growth comes greater attention and differing viewpoints about its impact on education statewide.

At WC, we see the EdChoice program as a tremendous blessing for families who value both academic excellence and a Christ-centered education. It reflects a simple yet powerful idea: parents know what’s best for their children.

Expanding Access to Christ-Centered Education

The EdChoice Scholarship helps make Christian education accessible to more Ohio families than ever before. This school year, 84% of Worthington Christian students are participating in one of Ohio’s EdChoice Scholarship programs, with an additional 5% supported through the Jon Peterson Scholarship for students with special needs. Altogether, 89% of our students are enrolled at WC with the help of a state scholarship program.

These scholarships open the door for families from all walks of life to choose an education that nurtures both mind and spirit—one that equips students to grow in faith, wisdom, and service.

A Proven, Accountable Program

EdChoice-participating schools meet state standards, administer assessments, and report results. Families, in turn, hold schools accountable through their choices—remaining where their children are thriving and seeking new environments when needed.

Research continues to demonstrate that educational choice can lead to improved student outcomes and increased family satisfaction. Most importantly, it gives parents the freedom to choose what aligns with their child’s learning style, values, and goals.

Staying Engaged in a Season of Conversation

As the discussion around school choice intensifies this election season, we encourage our families to stay informed and share their stories about how EdChoice and other scholarship programs have positively impacted their children.

At Worthington Christian School, our focus remains unchanged: to partner with parents in providing an excellent, Christ-centered education that shapes students for life.
